As part of our advocacy work at Elder Rights Australia, we recently assisted a client in purchasing a bed, mattress, sofa, and pillows from a third-party supplier, using their Home Care Package (HCP) funds – the request of the older person, to their provider, being in line with their assessed care plan needs. However, the HCP provider initially refused to approve the purchase, leaving the client without the necessary equipment.
